Networking on Facebook

by Joseph Bridges on January 27, 2009

Facebook is fun, no doubt about that. The thing that many miss with Facebook is networking to help yourself and your network. There is nothing wrong with helping yourself. Trust me if you wait on others to volunteer to help you the wait could be longer than it is worth. It is better to get out there and help others by creating a network and then you can call on them when you need assistance for your product or business.

So how do you go about networking on Facebook?

We create a short list of items that will help you grow your network on Facebook.

  1. Start with who you know- sounds simple but many people miss this very obvious fact. Start off looking for who you know on Facebook. A great thing is schools you have graduated from people usually identify with college or highschool friends easily.
  2. Don’t ask for anything (at first)- That’s right just reach out to be a friend first before anything. Reach out and find out how someone is doing and wait for them to ask how you are doing and be genuine in your askig.
  3. Set a goal of how many people you would like to meet - Sometimes it is just 1 a day other times it may be more. By having a goal you know what you need to do that day.
  4. Look for common interests- if you like a certain music band bond with people on that. Music is one of the most easily defined groups on Facebook and many bands have over 400,000 people who have registered fans.
  5. Look to help with your skill set first - if you are good at something offer to help people. Maybe that is reviewing someones website maybe it is connecting people for jobs. Whatever it is offer to help first.

Another great way to network on Facebook is to advertise for what you are looking for. This is a great way to quickly grow your network and meet people and the cost is affordable when done correctly. How do you go about doing this? We created an entire Facebook Ad System that will show you how to advertise on Facebook and generate results for your business.
